Today was a hot, muggy, stifling day here in Toronto. So I picked up my camera and started walking.
Sometimes I come across something for which I find an immediate, unreasoned dislike. The conclusion comes to me as a reflex more than anything else. There is an instant reaction which creates an intransigent conviction. This type of unarticulated decision tends to lend itself to the aesthetic; a song, a movie, even someone’s face can lead to a dismissive judgement that can be lasting. Unfortunately very few people have an interest in analyzing what someone means by something. Someone walking in to the office stating “I watched that movie – it SUCKED”. This leaves the job to oneself to accomplish. Besides, (here i put on my snob had – and monocle) even if most were asked, expecting a coherent response is highly unlikely (I’m keeping the hat and monocle on for a while, it’s kick ass).
Last night I went out with a friend to scope out Nuit Blanche. I’ve gone twice before, but not in the last couple of years. There are some things that I love about this event and others that I downright dislike. To me there’s now a simple formula to ensure that I’ll enjoy it.
