Pictures (VII) Night Falling on Toronto

January 02

So I’ve been toying with the camera and decided to make use of the tripod I also recently acquired.

I’ve been meaning to dabble in a little night photography. After I dropped off the 2012 rent cheques to my landlord, I found myself in the west end; somewhere I seldom go. I then decided to go to one of the waterfront parks and setup shop.

Now, I initially didn’t plan on doing what I’m doing here, so the framing, cropping I did, etc. isn’t perfect but I found it neat as a general exercise. I adjusted the standard levels in Photoshop (just affects some of the brightness levels based on the histogram) but did nothing to colours, etc. Only one of them did I change the white balance in Photoshop. I don’t know, there’s just something about getting something right out of the camera (or almost) and it being “good enough”.

And, as a  bonus, as I was waiting for the next light increment this little fellow popped out and decided to keep me company.

Suuuuuuch nice shots! I particularly like the photo of the bunny on the far right. :)

The lights on the skyline, the rich blue of the sky – that’s quite the achievement with little to no editing!

Danke. The second to last cityscape was 20 seconds, f11 ISO 100, the last one 30 seconds. You should try it sometime :p
